For adoptable pumping stations, IWNL has a dedicated Adoptable Pumping Station Design Guide.

Its current guidance states that pumping-station adoption needs to be included within the commercial agreement and that IWNL does not currently adopt a pumping station where a site serves fewer than 100 plots. The detailed pumping-station design is then submitted to IWNL for technical review as part of the Section 104 process.

The design is expected to follow the Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance and Design and Construction Guidance together with IWNL's own requirements.
